A mind-blowing experience. This Ageless Night is a beautiful, beautiful record.

Midsummer/Coastal “This Ageless Night” - Tangzine

Credit the respective bands for both blending wonderfully together on the same release while still maintaining individual identity. I think it’s safe to say that they have recorded an album…together. Five songs from Midsummer, five songs from Coastal. One cohesive album that fits together nicely. A perfect fit musically and a good justification for a split release.

Midsummer/Coastal “This Ageless Night” - Delusions Of Adequacy

October 30th, 2007

Midsummer blows me away yet again. Their songs are as intricately compiled and performed as any I’ve heard, reminding me yet again why their name should be on every indie-rock fan’s lips. Coastal still keep up their half of this album, and although they’re softer than Midsummer, they effortlessly combine shoegazer instincts with slow-core sensibilities to create lovely music. Together, both bands make for one hell of a nice release.

Midsummer/Coastal “This Ageless Night” - Aiding & Abetting

October 30th, 2007

Contemplative rock is something of an undercurrent in a wide variety of scenes. It’s always been around, but most folks don’t seem to notice it. Like Coastal, Midsummer reminds me a lot of Seam and other similar bands. Thing is, these folks really give the sound a big rush. Kinda like if Three Mile Pilot channeled its tangents into sweeping themes instead. Yep, this stuff is pretty damned great.

Midsummer/Coastal “This Ageless Night” - Pop Matters

These are two bands that have moved past “potential” and are beginning to deliver. Thoughtful music that is strikingly moving as well.
